I brewed an extract Arrogant Bastard Ale clone 10 days ago. The fermentation went crazy, first time i have ever had to use a blow off tube. It finally started calming down around day 8. I took a sample and its come down from 1.073 to 1.019. I figure I will get a few more points out of it and end up somewhere between 7-8% ABV.
The problem I have is the sides of the carboy are a nasty brown color. The beer from the sample I took out looks fine, very cloudy but fine. There are a few spots down the side of the carboy where there will be a clear ring but the rest is just murky brown like yeast caked to the side of the carboy top to bottom. My assumption is that its nothing to worry about just let it do its thing but wanted to see if there was any explanation.
