OK here something that I came across in my last brew. I had a 6.5# conatiner of dark LME and a 1.5# container of Amber LME. They were sitting in my cubbard in my basement for appx 1.5 months. I finally got some time to brew and I prepared a batch of Stout. I called it Musconectcong Magic. The musconectcong is a river that runs through my town. Anyway when I went to open both the Dark and Amber I found it to have mold. Not much but some. I figured what the heck everything is ready to go let me just scrape the mold out and a boil will kill off anything else.
Do I need to worry? Everything went according to plan and fermented fine. Smells great looks even better and is now ready to be racked to the secondary.
I do not want to tell anyone about this because they will not drink it if they knew. I have a feeling that there will be no ill effects from this but I want to know if anyone experienced this before?
