I brewed a beer last Saturday. Since I’m not doing secondary. How much long should I let it sit. It say to let sit in secondary 1-2 weeks before bottling. Should I let it sit that long. It’s extract kit

Without knowing more I would say primary for 2 weeks as a general rule of thumb then take your gravity readings over 2-3 days and if steady then package.

If you have a hydrometer I'd start checking the gravity at day 14. Check it a couple days after that and if it has stayed the same then the beer is done. If it drops then wait a few more days and take another gravity reading until it's static.

I totally forgot to take one when started. Can I still take one in 14 day

General recommendations are to ferment in primary for two weeks then check for steady gravity before bottling.

Having said that, many package around the one week mark. Others wait longer than two weeks. A lot depends on exactly what you are brewing and how you do it. Temp of fermentation, cold crashing, filtering, yeast used, adding adjuncts etc.

@Gnomebrewer is correct. For kits, they usually tell you the OG, and unless you didn't follow directions as far as volumes go - that is what the OG will be. Not sure what you're brewing, your temperatures, or what the OG is supposed to be, but you could measure gravity at 7 days and again at 9 days and will probably see that fermentation is done. Waiting until 14 days is good insurance that it is done and the yeast have had time to clean up.
