Really simple question. I want to brew an American Brown Ale (surprisingly, my first about about 30 batches) and am "intervieiwing" hops and need some references. I think the earthy/spicy/slightly minty character of Norther Brewer for bittering would taste good along with some Cascade for aroma/flavor.

Has anyone ever tried this combo before? Any success?

My American Brown uses NB and Cascade as dry hops. Very good combo in a beer with that slight toasty-roasty flavor of a brown ale. I do not find that NB is minty. It always comes across as woody for me.

Goose Island's Hockers Ale uses NB and Cascade, along with some Willamette. It's a good combo.
