just checked a batch thats been in the primary bucket for 2.5 weeks and the hydrometer readings were the following
sugar % 5
alc / vol 2
SPG 15

the bucket looks very very clean... theres a a very very small trace of brown along the edge on the the top of the 5 gal mark... and the bottom has about an inch of really white trub. There was no foam at all

It just seems to me like the yeast didnt do too much

I just racked it into a carboy to free up the bucket for another batch. Is ther anything I should do?

The SPG should probably be 1.015. Why do you think something is wrong? That sounds like a fairly normal final gravity. The "alc / vol" measurement is used for wine making and isn't accurate when used on fermenting beers.

well just because the diretions on the label said after a week it should be at 1005, its been almost 3 weeks and its at 1015.
The thing took 2 days to start showing any signs of life and then only bubbled for 3 days after that.

The recipe said it should be at 1.005? That is unusual. What was the recipe? Two days quiet then three days active is fairly standard fare.

it was just a black rock lager pre-hopped can. I added 1 kg of Coopers brew Enhancer 2

Sounds to me like Im freaking out over nothing and should throw away the instructions! I think I will put the carboy away, relax for a week and then keg it and see what it tastes like.

With the kit-n-kilo recipes like you've got, it's hard to know for sure what the FG should properly be, but 1.005 sounds low. If it tastes good, you're fine.

I didnt taste any but the smell was what to be expected lol

there has been no bubbling for 2 weeks but now after racking to the carboy it has started bubbling a little again...

Im gonna go have a beer and start another brew...

thanks
