Hi folks, I got a brew kit for Christmas and caught the bug! Should tell you about the giving because it is worth telling.

The first gift I opened was a cheese slicer, "Hmm, weird but we need one, OK."

Second gift was a 20 quart stainless stock pot, "Weirder, we already have one"

Third gift, 5 gallon glass carboy "She has finally lost her marbles and they've rolled under the couch" Not wanting to be a prick on Christmas I said "Well I can put change in it"

Fourth gift, a box of 24 long neck bottles at which time the light bulb over my head came on "Nice work Trish, you got me"

Today is day 8 on a IPA that should be around 5%. Things are slowing down so I should be able to bottle by day 13 next weekend.

After that I was thinking about a Drop Top clone that I got the recipe for on this site.

Already thinking about a second carboy and I haven't even done my first bottling.

I work in the food business as an Engineer. Last year, I was fortunate to be able to tour the Widmere plant last year with my MBA classmate and we interviewed the brand manager for hefeweizen who was very generous with his time.

Welcome to the obsession. With that said , I can see a bigger pot and a 6.5 gallon Ale pail in your future. Did you get a bottling bucket and auto siphon yet? Read all you can here on HBT and ask if you can't find something. Enjoy&Cheers:)

Yes she got me the full setup. The bottling bucket, grain bag, bottle washer, transfer siphon, funnel and assorted hoses. Hygrometer, thermometer, book, sanitizer, musting hose, etc.

The brew is starting to clear and the airlock is down to one bubble per minute. The Laundry room is a steady 65'F and I should be ready to start taking hygrometer readings in a couple of days.

Sounds like you have all the brew equipment you'll ever need!

But wait, then again that one thing WOULD be convienent....

I'd exchange the hygrometer for a hydrometer, but otherwise she was spot on ;)
