I brewed my first batch of beer 2 nights ago. Within 24 hours my airlock was bubbling vigorously. The next morning all bubbling has stopped and I am now going on 24 hours with no signs of fermentation. Should I be concerned?

RDWHAHB!! This is completely normal. Keep fermenting at least another week before even starting hydrometer readings ...

+1^ I had the same prob a week or so ago and Georgia Tiger calmed me down. If u are using an ale pail type fermenter then you are even more apt to leaking around the bucket lid.

I knew mine was leaking because the airlock was suspended at the top but never would bubble. It meant that I had positive pressure but there was too much leakage to make it bubble. I ended up setting a bucket of paint and a heavy chunk of wood on the bucket lid and it bubbled for over 24 hours before it stopped bubbling. I'm sure it stopped because the weight on top didn't stop all the leakage

Have you done any research on this? Many of us say 3 weeks in the fermenter. Three weeks in bottles for most brews. No need for secondary unless you are adding something like fruit.

Relax and while you wait the next 2 1/2 weeks do some more reading.

Oh yea, welcome to the club and Happy New Year.

Your questions have just begun. LOL :tank:
