I'm on my 15th brew at this point, so I know not to freak out, but 48 hours in and no airlock activity. funny thing is 2 buckets (10 gal batch) and one is chuggin away, while the other is not. Same wort, same yeast, even the same brand bucket....So I opened the inactive one and I have what appears to be a healthy krausen, looks like it should. The only thing I can think is that the bucket lid is not sealing....any other ideas? used the biermucher cream of 3 crops recipe, yeast was washed (but I havent had problems with other jars from the batch)....cooled to 70 which was the temp of the starter (wlp001) and pitched. The strange thing is that one bucket took off after ~24 hours while the other one just has no airlock activity.

I'd guess your assumption of the lid not sealing is correct. If you have everything the same between the 2 batches and you see krausen, I can't see why there would be any cause for concern.

Bad seal or grommet if you've got krausen. I've had cracked airlock necks on the 3 piece ones too. Right where they meet the base.
