We can only hope!

AS poorly as Detroit has been playing so far this season, I find it refreshing to not automatically assume they will be high up in the standings. Witha few key players out due to injury, and some of them coming back soon, I have hope that they will start winning more often.

Unfortunately, they start a West Coast trip tonight in Anaheim, and those games are just too late to watch. Surprised the Ducks are doing as poorly as they are this season. I totally expected them to in the top 5 again by now.

Lots of back to back games & the Hawks have an 8 game road trip to end January.

Man, I am thoroughly disgusted with the Blues right now. The firing of Andy Murray was a bad thing. I understand why this happened, but it just ain't right.

Of all the high $ vets on that team, Andy McDonald is the only one playing hard. The rest are just a bunch of uppity prima donnas. As for the kids, there is quite a bit of talent but they are too preoccupied thinking they are so cool because the fans are so in love with them.

The big problem was not the coach. It is lack of leadership in the locker room. Eric Brewer, even when he's not busy sucking, is too mild mannered to be the captain. The team has absolutely no grit. Of the six in a row they just lost, they had a lead going into the 3rd in four of them.

As far as I'm concerned, the season was over when they axed Murray. Better luck next year ya buncha whiny pansies...

I thought St Louis' problem had to have been Murray with the Blues falling FAR short of preseason expectations. He's a good coach and all, but he seems to have a short shelf-life with teams.
Seems they have other problems.
You're probably right about Brewer, he's been a Hawk-killer in the past, but I never would have thought of him as captain material.
I do kind of like how in Payne's 1st game as coach they tried to beat the Hawks by being physical and basically gooning it up. (Cam Jannsen sure as hell can't skate with Chicago)
Made for an entertaining game, but Payne must not have seen what happened to the Flamers when they tried the same tactic in the playoffs.
They got an early ticket to the golf course.
Hopefully DJ King will be back soon and provide some entertainment to the fans, as long as he doesn't get hurt his first game back (again).

I wonder if the Hawks are thinking about making a run at Kovalchuck or are thinking about freeing up some space for this salary cap nightmare that's pending come end of year.

I wonder if their thinking about sending Versteeg or Byflugien and Barker or Campbell to go all in and make a run at the Cup. Skille doesn't have the same size as Byflugien, but he's a pretty big RW at 215 lbs. In my opinion, it would be nice to get rid of Campbell's contract. I'd hate to see Versteeg or Barker go, but I could live with Campbell and Byflugien even if it unlikely we'll see Campbell traded.
