I brewed my second batch yesterday, it went well, I got it in the carboy and thought things were good.

I checked it this morning and it was fermenting. I thought, Awesome, I'm really happy.

I checked tonight after dinner, the freakin' fermentation lock had blown out and there was "beer" all over the tub.

Thankfully I put it in the tub this time instead of the closet I used the first time.

What did I do wrong, and more importantly, is it possible to salvage this batch?

Thanks in advance.

Uh, you didn't do anything wrong. Clean and sanitize the airlock and attach some 1/2 hosing to the tower inside, put the other end of the tube in a bottle or bucket of sanitizer.

Now, wait for the magic to happen!

You didn't do anything wrong but, you've learned a valuable lesson. I always use a blow off tube for the first week of fermentation. Like Shooter said. Everything is fine and thankfully you didn't have the brew in your closet!!

Oh, also, before sanitizing and attaching the hose, cut the little cross piece out of the end of the airlock that goes into the stopper or grommet on the bucket. I find a pair of fingernail clippers works quite well for this.
