Hi Guys,

First timer question...

I am brewing Brewers Best extract IPA. On day 6 of fermentation in the glass carboy. I do not plan on using a secondary.

Just trying to figure out when to bottle it. The instructions say to go from primary to secondary after fermentation is complete (4-7 days), but since I am just going with 1-stage, I am at a loss for when to bottle.

Thanks,
HeadRush

If you aren't using a secondary I would guess 3 weeks after fermentation is complete. I usually do 4 weeks in the primary. But, I'm new also. Hopefully someone else will chime in.
Good luck,
:fro:

Revvy...that sounds like my style - thanks.

So no FG checks, etc? Just pitch, wait a month and bottle?

Yeah, my beer turned out much better after following Revvy's advice. Leave it 3 weeks and it'll turn out fine (I leave my wheat beer for 3 weeks, I like them a bit hazy), but you'll be impressed with the extra week... quite a bit more clarity, but try to go at least 3 weeks in primary. I do a FG check about 2 or 3 days before bottling so I can check it again at bottling time to make sure it's done (at least that's the justification I use... I just feel like I should be doing SOMETHING! And I want to sample my warm, flat beer).

+1. I really .. really .. really hate to agree with Revvy, but I find in most cases he is right; I just don't like the sermons that go with it ... You were spared that.

Keep it where it is for 3 weeks and your beer will be fine.
