Hi! I just joined the site today. I have been brewing for 3 months now, and love it! I have been brewing all-grain recipes of an amber, Irish red, stout, and a peanut butter porter. I am going to try to make a Marzen-ale today (trying it using an ale yeast; Wyeast 2112), and my wife and I are also trying a chectnut brown ale. I am doing only 1-gallon batches right now, but may be expanding to 5-gallon batches in the near future.
I look forward to using this site and learning about the craft!

Welcome! Make sure to look for the latest MD/VA/DC area group buy. The best way to meet your local brewing buddies!
Especially keep an eye out for @IslandLizard!

I'm am luck to live 5 minutes to a homebrew store that has classes (mdhb.com). They have been great with helping me start off, and I am looking forward to joining some clubs pretty soon. Thanks for the recommendations!

You are in luck. MDHB is a great store. Our club teaches the all-grain classes there.

I just signed up for the all-grain class later this month! Is that the class you are talking about? I am looking forward to going to it!

After I made this post, I got an email saying the class was full, but they are trying to do another all-grain class March 7th.

Too bad. They do keep the classes pretty small. The email announcing them always says who will be teaching. CRABS does 90% of them but other clubs pinch hit sometimes.

There is also Killer Ales https://sites.google.com/site/marylandkillerales/

I've gotta do a little pimping of our brew club. I've actually been looking at teaching a BiaB class at MDHB at some point. Just not sure when I have the time and need to negotiate. they normally do 10 gallon batches split between brewer and MDHB. I've got the equipment...for 5 gallons BiaB. I can borrow equipment from my club for the 10 gallon, but I feel like I'd be better of teaching a BiaB lesson, as that is what I am most proficient in, plus I also feel like it is an easier way for people to get in to all grain than fly sparge.

We meet at the brewery on Hollins Ferry Road. We meet in the warehouse, but we start out in the taproom. Come to the taproom at or before 7:00 and look for folks with coolers.
