Unfortunately, not the Mexican border! Checkin in from northern New York, Gouverneur about 1/2 hour from the crossing in Ogdensburg. Just started brewing after Christmas this year and so far have made 2 different brews. West Coast Pale Ale and vienna winter lager. Right now have a St. Patricks Stout fermenting and plan on starting First Pitch Pilsner in a few days so that it will be ready for opening day. I'm only using a Mr. Beer Kit at the moment, but since finding this site I am very interested in getting a more advanced set up like many of you have. I would like to be able to make more at one time but the kit I have only makes 2.5 gallons at a time. Problem here is no homebrew shops wihin 100miles. So I have to have everything shipped and can't get any face to face advice.

So any suggestions, for more advanced kits or set ups, looking for more of the 5 gallon type deals? Also, have any of you made good beer from the Mr. Beer type kits? My first brew was a little cidery, I think I bottled it a little too soon, and I just bottled my second and thats carbonating as we speak so hopefully that one came out better.

Thanks for listening and I look forward to learning a lot from this board.

Steve

Welcome.

All the advice on here you want and more.
Take a look at the mail order retailers and post a link to the kit you're looking at and the guys will let you know if it's up to the job and if the price is right.
