Newb Question on Mold bubbles

I just checked my Kombucha which WAS doing alright, least it seemed like it but tonight I found 2 little mold bubbles on top of the liquid, I guess there wasn't enough heat/air or starter liquid but I had followed the instructions to the letter =/

Now I emptied it out and check the Scoby which seems clean, do I throw it or start again in a better spot?

Are you sure its mold? Do you have a photo?

Yeah, mold won't usually look like bubbles. I had this happen when I first started. I thought I was getting mold and it was actually bubbles getting trapped under the scoby that gave it that appearance.

If the bubbles are a greener color and look like the are full of puss, trash it. Depending on where you live you could be dealing with regional specific issues. Post a pic, I'll circulate it around my friends that are local Portland Brew Pubs and my friends at the Lion Heart Kombucha Pub.

oh and note, if you are afraid your scobys are susceptible to mold, add a 1-2 tablespoons of white vinegar to boost the acidity. It'll make your lil Scoby happy and more productive. Like getting a adrenaline injection kinda. The first batch after it's boost will be a bit sour/tart. The following will be the "normal" tartness. Good luck!
