I just wanted to thank FlyGuy and sacc and everyone else who posted information on this subject. Now to build the bank!

Is there a thread on a yeast exchange program?

Since I also brew mead and cider, I'm starting off with several of my favorite dry yeasts as a learning experience. I've also wanted to try several of the dry ale yeasts, so those are in line also. Then it's simply every time I brew, I'll bank some slants from the starter and samples from where ever I can get them.
