Welcome aboard Home Brewer! The John Palmer on-line www.howtobrew.com is probably the best way to find out just what you need to start up. Hope you enjoy the forum!

Welcome aptly named person who makes beer at home...;)

For a basic start with a kit (the muntons or woodefords kits are good) you'll need:-

1. A Fermenting Bucket (5-6 imp gallon)
2. A long handled plastic spoon to stir
3. A hydrometer
4. A thermometer (food type)
5. Plastic tubing (1-2m)
6. A plastic racking cane

and to enjoy your beer...

7. 550ml Bottles (approx 48 - save them from store bought ale) and caps + capper OR
8. A plastic 5 gallon keg - much easier!

Enjoy!
