My in-laws found a used kegerator for sale and bought it for me. I know it works (as in gets cold) and they have sent me two pictures of it. I am picking it up this weekend. It's going to need a thorough cleaning, but I am trying to figure out what additional pieces I will need. I am going to replace the hoses and I think I need to get some couplers for the C02 & beer.

For the life of me, I can't figure out why there are hoses going outside of the fridge. The C02 bottle should be inside the fridge along with the draft tower connection, right? Did I get a bum kegerator or can I just fill in the holes on the outside?

Thanks in advance for your help.

You can keep co2 outside the fridge and it buys you more room. Looks good actually. You'll need all new hoses and pin or ball lock kegs and connections. I think that's a Sankey connection.

You have awesome in-laws.

Thanks. I just ordered some pin lock kegs as they seem to be cheaper with connectors and all new hoses/clamps. I plan on keeping all of the equipment inside so is there any way to seal up the holes? Silicone maybe?

You should be able to fit (3) pin lock kegs in there with a 5 lb Co2 tank on the hump. You can screw a (3) way manifold into the back wall and keep, what looks to be, your single, primary regulator to carb all three beers at the same serving pressure. Bar keepers friend will work wonders on the stainless, and make it shine like new; it'll also scrub the galvanized, too.

For the holes; why not use an expanding foam and tape the inside? After the foam expands; cut it flush and put a chrome hole plug form your local home improvement store to the inside and outside of the holes to dress it up it a little. The foam will add some insulation, and the chrome plug will add some "flair". Here's a link to what I'm talking about: http://www.lowes.com/pd_139389-37672-881265_0__?productId=3013213

Here's a pic of what I did to the inside for my Bev-Air DD-22; I have a dual gauge regulator so that when I want to serve something at a different pressure, add a 4th ball lock keg, or carb one while serving the off of other three kegs. If your going the pin lock route; you'll only be able,to fit (3) kegs in there though because they are shorter and fatter than ball locks. At least you have the room to grow!

That's a great idea! Expanding foam didn't even cross my mind. Your kegerator looks good. It will be inspiration for me. I read that the BM-23 can hold a 10# CO2 tank, so I was planning on going that route. Hopefully it doesn't affect the number of corny kegs that will fit.

I found the lil' guy below on the interwebs; you could always cut a circle the same diameter of the tank, place it in the kegerator with the kegs and see how it works. Thanks for the complement on the kegerator! It was built in 1969 and took 5 weeks to scrub, paint, polish, and modify, but these things are worth it! Keep us posted with pics! Here's a link to insert your serial number and find the YOM:

Oh...and it looks the door handle is missing, but it's not too expensive to replace.
