Hey guys, I'm new here but not to drinking beer. A few years ago my wife bought me a brewing kit and I think it's finally time to put it to use. Can someone point me to some good info before I get started. I'm really clueless on this.

I think youre on your way if your here. Lots of good reading. To start I was suggest that you just read, read, read. You can just wing it, but if you're well prepared before your results are likely to be much better initially

I'm not sure what kind of kit you have, but you might want to buy new ingredients. I few years is definitely not good for the yeast, but can also cause the extracts and hops to be oxidized. Check out www.austinhomebrew.com for a new kit. If you don't have equipment to boil and ferment they can also set you up with a starter kit that usually includes ingredients for a beer. You can also visit onr of your local shop to grab all this stuff including a new kit. A quick Google search shows several in San Antonio, specifically in the northern and central parts of the city. Good luck, enjoy the hobby!
