Hello,
I have recently upped my game to full stainless with a new kettle. I have been using aluminum to this point and heard all of the wondrous things about how SS is inert and hard to mess up using. I opened my new kettle, rinsed it out thoroughly with water, and then went about my mash. It wasn't until the end of my mash I noticed rainbow circles at the bottom of the pot where the pot had dried. I realized in my haste to use my new toy I may have skipped a few prepping steps and so I ask you folk:
-Am I in danger of killing friends because I didn't passivate the kettle? Will I notice it taste wise in the beer?
-Now that the kettle is empty, what should I do to clean and prep it for the next brew? I am using the pot as both a kettle and a mash tun if that changes anything.
-I have a welded ball lock spigot installed, is there any maintenance I should be performing to keep the innards clean?
As always, thanks bunches for the help
cheers
