Hello there. I am now finally returning to homebrew after many years away. Looking online, it's a whole new world of technology and shiny things.

I look forward to discussing it.

Hi @kohalajohn . If you want to spent lots of money on a sparkling, shiny brewery you can do that, but you don't have to. Good beer is made from good ingredients and technique, not stainless steel.
Having said that, understanding of processes has come on in leaps and bounds in the last couple of decades. Doesn't mean you have to spend a fortune on a new spectrometer and gas chromatography, though. A good, glass hydrometer, a plastic bucket and a bit of temperature control should do the business.
