Hello. I am new to the forum but have been brewing for a little over a year. I began the hobby because I really like craft beer but I don't like the price. Also I am military and move more often than most, so I develop love affairs with certain beers and then I can't purchase them at my new location.

I started probably like a lot of people with extract and have just recently made the switch to All-Grain and currently have 6 AG brews to my credit. I have gone through phases where I focus all my efforts on improving one feature of my beer. At first it was clarity, then water, and now lately I have been trying to lower the cost of my brewing by using common base malts for each brew and simplifying the recipes overall. Below is a link to an IPA recipe I made using this principle. One is "piney" while the other is "citrusy" but both use the same grain bill.

Through the year I have been reading through the topics on homebrewtalk to help answer my questions as this is a vast wealth of knowledge. I wanted to join to get an objective opinion on my beers and how I can improve them. Normally I would resource my friends but very few of them brew and all of them will just tell me the beer is good either because they don't want to hurt my feelings of more likely because I am giving them free beer to drink. For me the ultimate compliment is for someone to tell me they would actually spend money on the beer I made. I am not looking to start a brewery (though I know I am not the first to daydream about it) but the overall goal of every homebrewer is to make a beer of commercial quality at home.

Anyways I am glad to be on the forum and thank you to the contributors that keep this site so useful.

Welcome to the group from CT! I have a high school buddy who is in the Air Force who brews who is in the same boat as you. Always moving and can never find the new beer he likes! Thank you for your service and brew on!
