Hi everybody. I am a college student in Grand Forks, ND. I just threw my first batch into the primary fermenter. (Sierra Pale Ale) I'm looking to learn a lot, and looks like I came to the right place!

cheers,
Logan

I want to brew something with spruce tips in it... not really sure when I'd throw them in though for flavoring.. would I let it steep the entire time in the wort? or just throw them in with the flavoring hops for the last few minutes of the boil?

I suppose you could do that either way - I'm sure that you could find out the best spot to include them by doing some searching. My goal is to get better at planning out my brew sessions per the seasons/weather so I hope to do something similar this coming September or October for a darker holiday beer.

I think people have tossed them in near the end of the boil. It's one of the beers that I've wanted to try. More so since my friend brought back a pack of Alaskan Brewing Company's Spruce Ale.
