:mug:Welcome to the forum. Got a brew to do first?
I've been doing extracts with steeping grains since I started. Look at the "Replicator " recipes on Bader seer and wine supplies site. I have brewed a few of the recipes from there with good results. The Hophead is a clone of McMenimens Hammerhead, a simple yet popular brew here in "Beervana" OREGON! Watch the Ducks on New Years!

Yup. Need to be deflowered first. Just got home from Wisconsin last night.

Kit is a Brewer's Best "Continental Pilsner" my mother and stepfather got me. Came with 2 5gal+ buckets and some miscellaneous tools. Also a copy of "Home Beermaking" 3rd edition by William Moore. Been reading a bit today. I want to learn more before I plunge into it.

My stepfather only made one batch several years ago and didn't do so well with it. Too busy to take it back up again.

Welcome to HBT! :mug:

There are quite a few folks from the UP and WI around here. Maybe you can get together with one or two of them.

Enjoy and feel free to ask questions as you progress.

Thanks. I will take a look at it.

I don't think I'll have a problem with it, at least the processes. I'm a fairly young (28yo) self-employed firearm and ammunition manufacturer. I'm used to following processes with great accuracy. I usually do a few weeks or so of research before I try something new. I'm also the DIY type for the most part. I make my own guns, ammo, do my own butchering after hunting, basic vehicle maintenance, use to build my own computers (before I went Mac). If I can do something on my own, I will try.

The BB directions are good. I'd recommend getting some spring/bottled water for your first batch.

Welcome from a former MI guy now in WI. Brewing is a great indoor activity when its too nasty to play outdoors on the Keweenaw.

I'm the opposite. Born and raised in Oshkosh. Lived in Milwaukee for a spell in the early 90s and then Green bay up to 2005, then the UP here.

Been doing a lot of reading about brewing, steps, etc. Red Jacket Brewing Company is a small "1/2 barrel at a time" brewing here about 6 blocks away. I'm going to see if I can watch them brew their next batch (they brew only on Wednesday) to see it done in person and learn some stuff. I like to read a lot about something, then watch it, then I can do it.

Hey! Welcome from another CastBoolits member. Much larger board here, but the people seem just as friendly. When the bug bites hard, check out the DIY sub-forum - you can make a lot of stuff yourself. My first brew was so good that I'm hooked, kinda like the Pickaxe Blonde I had up there last summer.
