Hi guys and gals of homebrewtalk. I am a new guy from Lake of the Ozarks Missouri, and I have yet to brew a single thing.

I think I want to make my own beer one of these days, but I don't want to dive in head first with zero experience only to be in over my head. Does anyone know if there is a good kit(Mr. Beer, or other) for not a lot of money that will teach me some things, and help me decide if home brewing is for me?

Hi

Welcome to HBT, if you're going to make beer this place is just about a pre-requisite to good beer.

You can start out with a Mr Beer kit, that's a pretty good idea if you're not to sure about whether you will enjoy beer making and not ready to commit the cash.

Having said that, if you are willing to spend maybe 100 or so dollars you can get yourself a beer making kit that will make 5 gallon batches (about 2 1/2 cases)

I'm not sure if you are familiar with the online beer brewing sites. Here's a link to a kit from Midwest Supplies. There are cheaper equipment kits out there. Glass carboys are over rated and your really do not need one.

There are also many different ingredient kits. You'll probably want to start with an extract kit

Many different online brewing homebrew supply stores and if you're lucky you have a homebrew store near you. If not, online provides many resources.
