Just thought i would stop and say Hi. Im looking at getting started into home brewing. Im 21 and living in the DFW area. I love the good beers, so i though home brewing would be a good little hobby to have. This site looks good i have been looking through the forums for a while, looks like lots of great info.

Ryanh, welcome to HBT! I'm in DFW also.

The best place to get equipment is any one of several online stores. But, there's also a great homebrew store on Coit road just north of Beltline in Richardson. It's where I buy all my ingredients. They sell equipment too. Check out http://www.homebrewhq.com/

Thanks, I was thinking of going to The winemakers store in Fort Worth. Have you ever been there? the prices look good. I live in Arlington so that is alot closer.

Except her, ironically.

LMFAO. Welcome. We hope you find the place engaging and that you don't get bit by any copperheads.

Brewing is the best hobby, bar none. Dive in and don't look back.

That sounds like a good brew. It is a good idea to do a few extract brews at first while you get your process down.

On the two stage kit, do you mean a brew equipment kit with extra pail/carboy/Better Bottle for conditioning? Good move, if so. It'll help your beer a lot if you rack from primary after fermentation to another vessel for clearing and conditioning for a couple of weeks before you bottle.

Yes thats what i meant, im still trying to get all the lingo down. :mug:

If you decide to check it out, be sure to let us know how they are for brewing equipment and ingredients.

Will do, Probably go by there next week, and pick some stuff up. Between school and work i dont have too much time to stop by some where during store hours.

Welcome to homebrewing--you'll really enjoy it. I've been brewing for a little over a year and am by no means an expert, but I have fun and enjoy my end results.

I highly recommend Charlie Papazian's book THE COMPLETE JOY OF HOMEBREWING. It's a wealth of information laid out in an easy to read format that literally takes you from "This is beer" at the beginning of the book to advanced brewing techniques such as culturing your own yeast at the end. In short, you can start off with the basics and get as advanced as you want (or your budget will allow).

Have fun.

Ken
