name's brian and from odessa, missouri. have been really...extremely...interested in trying different beers for the last few years. then i watched an episode of Good Eats on the foodnetwork about homebrewing. After that, i had always wanted to brew myself. So just about a month ago, i got enough courage and bought my first equipment kit and recipe kit. its a cherry wheat and fermenting as we speak. i planned to have the kitchen to myself to start the brew, however the inlaws decided to come over with kids. it was a mess. plus, you got the everyone who wants to help only to get their bacteria covered paws all over everything. anyways, its in the bathtub now. so, even though the kitchen was crowded, and i didnt have the best techniques for everything its done and i couldnt be happier. cant wait to bottle and drink my babies.

Welcome to the club:

  • Patience. Let the beer do its thing.
  • Patience. When you bottle, 21 days at 70 degrees...period.
  • Patience. Let that beer have at least 2 weeks in the primary fermenter before you rack to a secondary or bottling bucket.
  • Patience. Take your mind off your first brew by getting started with your next one.
  • Patience. If you must dabble in brew stuff, don't dick with your beer. Come to HBT instead or go spend time reading howtobrew.com.

Oh...and did I say "welcome"? :D

also wanted to add that i have been on many forums for different things from burning dvds to talking about videogames. this is the friendliest and most informing of anything i have been on. so thank you to all.

Welcome new friends. This is one of the better forums on the subject of beer that I have found, and I searched for a long time.

That's nice to hear. This is a "pub" after all and we get into some pretty heated debates...but love-o-beer over rides everything else.
