Just got a new CO2 Tank. Connected it to my keg, checked for leaks, everything's fine, except the pressure gauge is reading 500psi or just inside the red "Order new gas" zone.

The tank reads "filled to 50bar", which I calculated is equal to 725psi.

Could it have something to do with the fact that it's being stored at 41 degrees fahrenheit? Or did I recieve a nearly empty CO2 tank? Or could my gauge be faulty?

Google C02 phase diagrams if you want to understand why that is.

Look for the (empty) tare weight on your tank. Once you know that you can weigh it and tell how much is left in it. If it's not marked, weigh it the next time it runs out and make a note of it.

Like others have said, pressure means nothing. In fact, 725 PSI at 70 deg F works out to about 500 PSI at 40 degrees F.

Regardless, ignore that gauge. It's friggin' useless, (if it reads above 0, you have CO2, and it will go from above 0 to 0 almost instantly). I think the only purpose of the high pressure gauge is to generate forum posts :D :mug:
