Ok, thanks to BobbyM I finally got a pump for my system. My wife was really excited too. Lol. Anyway, I know it isn't self priming and that the liquid has to be present before I start it. My question is when draining do I just cut off the power while there is still fluid in the line?

Use a ball valve on the output side of the pump, slow down the flow towards the bottom of your kettle, when it starts sucking air shut it (the power) off.

Even when there's no more liquid pouring in from the input side, there's still going to be some liquid in the head to lubricate the impeller. Sure, you don't want to leave it running for 10 minutes that way, but you don't have to have an itchy trigger finger either. ;-)
