Hello everyone... I've dabbled a bit in mead brewing, but as my husband just got me a 5-gallon home brew kit (with glass carboy, even) for Christmas, I figure it's time to get a little more serious than just "dabbling" ;)

My main interest is brewing herbal beers, as I do a lot of custom tea blending and my husband falls head over heels for them when I add a bit of brandy and honey, so trying to branch out in that regard. As well I'm looking at trying interesting/unusual recipes of beer for my husband to try, as he's the big typical beer drinker in the house.

Glad to be here!

Welcome to the hobby, and the group. Honey and herbs are awesome in ales, maybe aged in a brandy barrel?

I have a buddy who makes a Tangerine honey basil ale, it is awesome.

*laughs* brandy barrels are just a little too deep into it for me atm... perhaps once I get a few recipes consistently good I'll look into that. I just started two one-gallon trials tonight. Dandelion Leaf/Nettle (in terms of their properties, this should be an excellent summer beer), and Elder Berry/Hibiscus. Thinking of doing Elder Berry with Horehound next time for a better winter brew, or I'll make a mead out of it! (I use elder berry and horehound for homemade cough syrup with honey)
