I honestly can't remember if I've posted here or not. I joined back in 2009 ish, but school was to busy to start brewing.

Anyway, I'm here now. I took the money I got for Christmas and decided to start brewing. Hopefully my batch of Altbier will be ready in the next month or so.

Back to working on emptying some more bottles!

Happy New Year to all.

*Edit* Wow, I really have been a ghost on here!

Kilroy,

Is it just me or is pulling the labels the worst thing ever about emptying and reusing bottles? I have been using Rogue bottles and jesus I think they use space gorilla glue on the labels...thats even after softening them up with hot water in the sink. Good luck on your Althbier...I am starting a triple hopped ale Friday. Cant wait.

Throw some baking soda in the water. Makes most labels much easier to remove. Some are still stubborn but still better than plain water. The plastic type labels must use a different glue that leaves a sticky residue

All seems to be off to a good start. I went to check the gravity and saw the krausen has receded.

So, Here's things so far.

Now I'm just waiting

Beer labels are painful. Sooooo, I decided to make my life just a bit easier through careful and exhausting research. I chose to only buy Guiness and drink enough of it until I had a sufficient number to start filling. Since I like Guiness and the bottles are really sexy (if bottles can be) it was a perfect match. And oh by the way, the labels are heat shrink plastic and come off with one cut from a utility knife. Now I am kegging so I have about 6 cases of unused bottles. It was worth it at the time though.
