I purchased several new AEB (made in Italy) kegs and they come with the very-hard-to-remove poppets that are held in on a ledge inside the post. I plan to remove all the liquid end poppets and replace with universal poppets for easy cleaning. I used a jeweler's flathead to remove one and it was a pain in the arse. Just a heads up to anyone that plans to buy these in the future.

As far as I can tell, the best bet with these (I have 3) is build or buy a keg washer and simply don't disassemble unless there is a problem.

I guess I am just much more comfortable cleaning the liquid end by disassembling post and poppet. I'll keep the original poppets on the gas since no liquid will run through them. I don't want to risk any debris getting stuck in the puppet and encouraging any growth at the post. I have so far removed two of the MFRs poppets and will pressure test tonight with the universals, but I don't anticipate any issues. Have you never disassembled the kegs you have (posts or poppets)? I know there is a disclaimer about warranty going out if even the posts are removed. This seems fairly ridiculous, as they are threaded and obviously need to be removed if a poppet were to be defective or broken.

I've never disassembled. I bought two of mine from kegconnection.com and they recommend against disassembly. I've heard that the warranty claim is a rumor, but I can't say for sure.
