I have done four batches before with the True Brew kit but wanted to try something different and got the Muntons Connoisseurs Range Beer kit that comes in a single can and a seperate package of the yeast.
Here's my problem...The guy told me that everything was already premixed in the can however, after I added the hot water to the can contents in the instructions it calls for 2.2lbs of sugar to be added. I only added approx 0.75lb regular table sugar and 0.25lb of confectioners (powder sugar). I know....I wanted to try to keep the calories down by adding less sugar and I don't really know what convinced me to try the powdered sugar. However, will this change my wait time for bottling?? Is the brew even ok since I used powdered sugar?? I've now moved the brew to a secondary carboy. I started the brew on the 16th. It's now the 23'rd. What sp. gravity should I be at before bottling?? The instructions say that if using a hydrometer the gravity should be constant at a figure below1008 degrees. Well....my hydrometer doesn't measure in degrees.....what do I convert this 1008 degrees to? I just don't want exploding bottles. Thanks.
