Newbie Here,
I don't consider myself as a sophisticated taster, or an enthusiast in beers, however, always appreciated drinking descent beer.
Unfortunately, due to work reasons, I'm currently stuck in a country where manufacturing and consuming(both purchasing and drinking) alcohol is strictly prohibited and yes, I'm suffering badly. To give you a hint, this place is very hot, deserted and well known for petroleum.
Thus for my next vacation in July to my home country, I will try to sneak in some recipe kits and equipment that I can fit in my suitcase (large items such as pot, fermenter, bottling buckets etc. will be compensated with items I can find here) for some home brewing, or should I say alcohol production experience.
(please don't get me wrong, as I do admire you enthusiasts' craftsmanship)
Sorry for the long introduction....
Only problem I seem to face at this moment is the bottles.
I've been collecting some 900ml glass juice bottles with wire bail flip lids, though I've read some threads that those lids does not provide good seal for bottle priming.
Every so-called "Malt Beverage"s here are all bottled in threaded twist bottles which I read is quite difficult to cap.
I was also thinking of priming in used PET coke bottles. But all I can think of is how soda became 'sugarwater' once opened and left for a week or two. Maybe because it does not provide proper seal.
Is there any other option? or some ideas perhaps?
Help guys.
I really need this...
