so i just started brewing about a month ago. first batch was great! kegged it and been enjoying it often. then i realized how fast it was going so i decided to do a mutton can kit next as i was told they dont take long and taste ok. so for whatever reason my stove refused to boil 2.5 gallons tonight. had it on for an hour and only got to around 200. i figure good enough for a can kit , tired of waiting and worked last night and no sleep today . so after i mix it all up and drop the chiller in there i cant find my adapter for the chiller to the sink!
No problem the old lady is in bed i will just drag the garden hose in the door. :rockin: well i get it all hooked up and go out to turn on the hose....... well before i got back in the house the discharge end of the chiller popped out of the sink onto the counter and i flooded the whole stinking kitchen!

moral to the story..... dont brew on no sleep and always stay a batch ahead so you dont rush things......:D

I appreciate the visual I got of my attempt to do that from our apartment...second floor of our triple decker. Huge effort of running the hose into the second floor window, turning hose on, only to walk back to the stairwell to discover a waterfall.

It is valuable posts like these that make me think a little more about things as I am doing them....unless I have a frosty adult beverage in hand, then I'm likely to have some craziness like that happen.

Hopefully you got it all cleaned up before swmbo noticed what was up!!!

Where do you place your probe?

I had a kitchen flood once kinda from the same reason. SWMBO never noticed the floor was a little wonky after that either. :) TGIt was a rental.

Some level of flooding always occurs on my brew day. Luckily I have a tiled floor.

When I brewed up that Bavarian watermelon hefe, the Bavarian wheat DME gave the hot break from hell! Couldn't stir it down or anything with 4 gallons in my 5 gallon kettle. Boiled over the stove & counter between the stove & fridge. Got it cleaned up before SWMBO spotted it!

the other day I was trying to troubleshoot a keg and i pushed down on the beer poppet valve with a screw driver while the keg was still pressurized. Of course I had my face right up to it for a good view.

Beer geyser all over my face, ceiling covered in beer. Not really sure what I was expecting......
