Brand new in the box with a k-type thermocouple. Purchased as a spare for the 2 used in my control panel but after having issues with the poor quality auto-tune algorithm I've decided to upgrade to Auber units. I was able to get the temperature to hold within +/- 1 degrees with my in use units but it took a fair amount of manual tuning and honestly I think I could do that just as easily with a hysteresis controller.
If you are OK with taking the time to manually tune or just want this as a temperature display for you mash tun then it will do the job.
