Hi
I just finished my 2nd all Grain ale, an Aussie Light Ale. It has been in the corboy fermenter for about an hour. I have two questions.
1- During the boil I noticed some white stringy things in the boil pot. If this showed up after the fermentation I would have assumed it was a contamination possibly lacto basillus sp?. I didn't think you could get contamination from the boil and that boiling killed contaminants.
2- I used Wyeast 1056 American XL activator smack pack. I smacked the pack the day before and the pac blew up like a football the way it is supposed to. After pitching the yeat I cut open the Pack and noticed that there were 2 inner Packs. One I had broken the other was intact. I cut that inner pack a dumped the brown liquid
in the fermenter. I didn't know that there were 2 inner packs. And how can you tell if you've broken both inner packs? m I only going to get the use of half the yeast? Any replies will be appreciated.
