Someone mentioned on craigslist that they were selling some brewing equipment at a local garage sale this weekend. Needless to say, I was there bright and early.

My take:

This is not an exact tally, but:

24 1000ml flip tops

5 500ml flip tops

2 Bucket fermenters with airlocks

1 Bottling bucket

2 Hydrometers

2 Bottle cappers with 2 bags of extra bottle caps

1 Auto-siphon

1 Regular siphon with clip

1 Small brew kettle

1 9' false bottom: time to make a mash tun. ;)

1 Stick on thermometor

1 Can of muttons LME

1 Bag of One Step Sanitizer

1 Bag of Priming Sugar

Total cost: $40.00

I'm pretty stoked about the bottles and the false bottom. Only sad part is, I just ordered a lot of this stuff from morebeer.com about four days ago. I guess I'll just have to see what I can do with the stuff, or maybe make a starter kit and sell it on Ebay.

Stuff I already ordered:

Bottle capper

Auto-Siphon

Hydrometers

Bottling Bucket

Better sell the extra. Otherwise, it just sits there screaming to be filled and you wouldn't want too much beer around.

[extra hydrometers is a problem that goes away quickly]

Starter kit? Nuh-uh!!! now you need MORE stuff!!!! Like a ten-gallon cooler for that false bottom and a nice big pot and burner so you can go AG!!! Assuming, of course, you don't already brew AG........:mug:

You guys are right. The extra fermenters will really come in handy! I guess with the extra bottle cappers I can put my girlfriend and brother to work helping me bottle beer. ;)

I also forgot to mention that there were two bottle fillers and 2 bottle brushes. I had no bottle brushes, so that will be nice!

As for the extra Hydrometers, well, they will be spares encase my hands decide to drop one during a brew day sometime.

Also, yes some of the stuff was very new! In fact, there were two gentlement selling stuff and one guy's kit looked like it hadn't been used ever! Bottle capper, bottle caps, hydrometer all in their original packages and everything.

As I said before, I'm totally stoked. =D

That stainless false bottom is of no use to you. Those things are very hazardous and need to be disposed of by an expert. I happen to BE an expert so, in the interest of a safer environment, you need to mail it to me ASAP so I can PROPERLY dispose of it.:D

You can make the bottling bucket a MLT. The extra cappers aren't really neccessary. The tiny brewpot will not be very useful if you're going AG (probably why the false bottom is still in the package). I would hesitate to use someone elses used buckets for fermenters.
Great score.

Damn fine score. I'll remember this and search craigslist and garage sales listings. I like EZ cap bottles and would definately like to add more to my supply.

Great score.

Yeah, I am a bit worried about that honestly. The guy who sold me the majority of his stuff seemed to be all about cleanliness. He even told me he kept everything really nice and clean, but at the same time I don't want to ruin a batch of brew to a bad fermenter. Although, I will say two of the buckets (the bottling and one fermenter) have hardly any signs of wear and tear at all. Could I give them a good soaking in Oxy-Clean for a couple days and take care of anything that might be lurking? Or, if it's in there, is it in there for good?

As for the pot, it's going to hang around. I got a 44 quart pot coming in the mail on Tuesday and a Turkey fryer to start making some brew. At this point I'm doing extract, but with the false bottom find I'm going to keep my eye out on for coolers and the eventual switch to all grain. Should be good times. =D

I'd be OK with using the buckets, judging from the condition of everything else I'm sure you'd be fine.
