I just drew a sample of the latest batch of my IPA.

Clear and light in color (xtra light DME). I'm pleased with the appearance, for sure. It's clear enough already that I can read through it (see my ring behind the glass?) I'll be bottling it on Friday night.

However, this one tastes a HELL of a lot different than the three previous batches (same basic recipe). The only real difference is that this time I used 100% whole hops, no pellets at all (my previous batches used pellets for everything except the dry hops).

This batch certainly has a much more organic taste. It's not bad, but I hope it mellows out. Of course, my sample was drawn from within the center of the dry hops floating on the top of the fermenter, but I don't think that's the only reason. I thought this batch smelled haylike when I made it and had some posts on here about it.

Boy... getting a buzz on and rambling. At least I am in the right forum.

Yeah those are some MAN HANDS if ive ever saw them...you know what they say about big hands...

Big Gloves!!!

Funny...

we give these glasses to my son at dinner with root beer in them, so he can be like dad with his pint of ale.

After I posted the picture, I considered posting a reply telling you all to notice how f*cking huge I was.

sadly... I'm about 5'11" on a good day, and my hands are actually small for my size (which ONLY means that I have small gloves.)

Walker, save some for me!

I should know this week if I can get off work for the beer fest.

Well, I'm saving some of the current drinking batch as well as the current fermenting batch (which will have been bottled 3 weeks when the restival happens.)

This latest batch has a very different flavor than the others. I'm wondering if this is going to start happening to all of my batches now that I have buttloads of whole hops and won't be using any pellets for a looooooooooong time. I'm a little worried about it, but I am relaxing, trying not to worry, and having homebrews while I wait it out.

Looks like a shot glass. Who ever saw a pint with a false bottom?

Good looking beer, though.

Yes, they're shotglasses of sorts. They belonged to my late father-in-law (both he and the glasses came from Italy). I've never measured how much they hold, but I'm guessing 3 oz or so.

Thanks. It looks a hell of a lot better than the previous batch. The previous batch was brewed a few days before I had my new chiller, and to make matters worse I forgot to add irish moss. It's rather hazy.

Awesome color there. Looks great!

Hopefully the grassy / hay flavors age out a little bit for you.
