I just drew a sample of the latest batch of my IPA.
Clear and light in color (xtra light DME). I'm pleased with the appearance, for sure. It's clear enough already that I can read through it (see my ring behind the glass?) I'll be bottling it on Friday night.
However, this one tastes a HELL of a lot different than the three previous batches (same basic recipe). The only real difference is that this time I used 100% whole hops, no pellets at all (my previous batches used pellets for everything except the dry hops).
This batch certainly has a much more organic taste. It's not bad, but I hope it mellows out. Of course, my sample was drawn from within the center of the dry hops floating on the top of the fermenter, but I don't think that's the only reason. I thought this batch smelled haylike when I made it and had some posts on here about it.
Boy... getting a buzz on and rambling. At least I am in the right forum.
