It is my first time bottling and I plan on filling all the bottles and then cap them. Is this ok or do I need to fill then cap? I was going to place a cap on the bottle after i fill it to keep anything from getting in the bottle. I guess my real question is.. is there a time limit once the beer is in the bottom that it needs to be capped? thanks

i've done it this way. i think youd be fine. just don't walk off half way through and leave them sitting there. but if you could get some one to help you cap while you fill that would be helpful too.

Place a cap on it while bottling ... then go through and cap them all at the same time. That is what a lot of us do.

I think it's actually better to fill them, loosely place the cap on top, and cap them all once you're done. I figure there is still some off-gasing of co2 from the beer that pushes out any air left in the top.
