Hi guys,

Just adapted Yooper's House Pale Ale into a partial mash BIAB a few months ago with all Cascade and really enjoyed the resulting beer. I was thinking about keeping the base malts the same as I have used the first time and changing the hops while keeping a similar hop schedule. I have a lot of hops in the freezer and I was planning on brewing with Magnum, Motueka and Simcoe. I adjusted my additions based on AA% so each addition would contribute the same IBUs. What do you guys think?

Personally, I see no need for a 30 minute addition. Its the pergatory of hop additions...are you after flavor or bitterness? If its about bitterness, up the magnum, if its about flavor/aroma, move that addition to at least the 20 minute mark.

In fact, I would shift all your late additions 5 minutes. Make your 10 a 5 minute addition, and your 5 minute simcoe a flameout addition along with the saaz.

Good luck

Great thanks for your help. Definitely going for more flavour and aroma so that seems like great advice. Would ijust bump up my 60 min addition to compensate for the loss in IBUs? To make it add up to 56 IBU?

Sorry I used B Saaz as Motueka in BrewMate because it it's basically the same thing (i think) and Motueka is one of the few hops not available in the program :)

Ah I see. Yeah it looks good. I personally don't mind a 20/30 min addition but I take calichusetts point.

Just brewed it up with a 60 min addition and kept the rest as a 10, 5 and a hop stand. Got great efficiency on the BIAB as well. Going to then dry hop in a week. Calling this one YanKiwi Pale Ale in reference to the American and New Zealand hops. I'll let you guys know how it turns out.
