My Mr. Beer concoction will be the drink of choice at this year's gathering at my house. I can't say I'm not nervous about it. I told the wife to get a case of something good as a back up!

*I used Big Game in place of BuperSowl so the NFL will stay away from you!

Very exciting no doubt. If it's at all drinkable, which I'm sure it will be, you will be very proud. Like you invented the wheel proud. Then you'll want to make another batch on Monday.

I've got a blonde in the same boat. It's been bottle conditioning for awhile now. Last weekend it was still a little flat going to try one out tonight to make sure it's good for the game sunday.

Good luck!

Speaking from experience, I'd forgo the element of surprise for myself to avoid the embarrassment of someone opening a bottle and covering themselves in foam, or drinking a beer that is obviously not right. Been there done that with the gusher thing...I really wish I'd sampled a few of those bottles before bringing them to a party. Worst part was, it wasn't even someone I knew, and my buddy who was hosting the party was really talking up the homebrew to this guy. Whoops.

Yeah - me and a buddy brewed up some beer for our friend who wanted some for his wedding. We weren't first time brewers, had plenty of good beers under out belt - but for some reason, both of those batches came out awful. Made for some good stories! It was brewed in 2002, I've got 2 bottles left, took a photo of it the other day actually and sent it to him, asking him if he thought it might taste OK after some aging. Chances are your beer will be fine, though, enjoy!
