Hi all ,

Ive been sampling beer from my first batch. It was a kit called AmberBock from Midwest. Munton's 4 lb. Bock hopped can kit, 2 lb. of Light Dried Malt Extract, 1 oz. Tettnang aroma pellet hops.

This was in primary 10 days until consistent FG readings. and secondary another 2 weeks.
Carbing now in the bottle with cane sugar 2 weeks.

Had one last night after in the fridge for a few hours.

All I can say is I am very disappointed. It tastes much better now than a week ago for sure. It is definitely lightly carbonated.

I am not sure what I am tasting. The beer is very dark. The head does linger a little, although it leaves pretty quick. There is no hop aroma or flavor but definitely some bitterness. And this strange un-appealing flavor towards the end of the sip.
I have no idea if I am tasting oxidation but wet-cardboard might be a decent description of the taste. I did make a big mistake in pouring the kettle into the ferment-er while the wert was still hot.

HSA maybe?
I also think the secondary fermenting was unnecessary.
Maybe I did not let the bottles dry enough after rinsing with star-san?
Too much oxygen wash while soaking the bottles to remove labels?

Or is this a relatively tasteless/dark kit to begin with?

Any insights will be appreciated, TIA
