Here is my first beer. It was an extract hefe kit. It came out darker than your typical Hefe. Why? It tastes great though.

Looks pretty dang good to me. What malt extract and grains did you use?

Did you put everything in then do a60 min boil? If do its caramelized the sugars in the wort. Try waiting until the last 15 min to add the extract. That will keep the color where you want it.

Even if the color is off I bet it still taste pretty good!

No grains at all just LME but can't remember what kind. Rookie mistake, didn't take good notes.

I did have trouble keeping a rolling boil though. I was using an electric stove... (bought a burner the next day)

LME will always make darker beer because the process that is used to make it darkens it. Add to that the amount you boil will darken it more yet. To keep the beer lighter color, use 1/3 of the LME at the start of the boil and add the rest of it in the last 5 to 10 minutes.

ya most extract hefe recipes require like 1/2 of the extract to be added for 60min and the rest at 15 min... i just did a hefe extract the other week and today i transferred to my carboy, it was dark like yours and i did the half and half boil. i wonder if the extract should all just be added at 10 min to achieve e a lighter color..

but to be honest man, if it tastes good screw it! drink and enjoy it, mistakes can often result in discovering something new! :)

Haha ya its delicious. Doing the zombie Dust clone this week. Pretty excited about it.
