My wife has been impressed with a recent batch of witbier that I made. It has been bottle conditioning for the last 3-4 weeks and is ready to drink. She popped the top on one in our kitchen the other day. I hear her scream and look over to find froth spraying all over the kitchen combined with her confusion of what the hell is going and on what to do next. After half the beer raced out of the bottle, she decided to head towards the sink. Her first step was in a puddle of beer and she hit the floor (laughing the whole time). It was 30 seconds of the funniest hell ever. I have a picture of her soaked in beer lying on the kitchen floor. It sort of turned me on!! She looked over and said, " what the hell was that?" That, honey, was your first gusher.

Would love to hear your gusher stories as well.

I had one rather small gusher with my Summer Pale ale...just one bottle. No biggy, you say? Well,it wouldn't have been, save for the fact that it was on a web cast! I sent 2 bottles of it to Gary at Home Brewer TV. When he got to "the tasting room" segment,he went to open mine,& it was like a replay of "the blob". It foamed out over his hand,& you can imagine my embarrassment! But it stopped after 2-3 seconds or so.
He poured,it,describing it,he couldn't stop sipping it. He loves dark beers with big flavor, especially toasty ones,it seems. I beat a commercial beer with the full 3 thumbs up. So,at least it turned out good.
