So instead of renting out my guest house I have turned it into a brew-house! My first two batches are in primary fermentation right now, been there a couple days and now the house smells like banana nut bread. Is this a normal smell? I always thought fermenting wort smelled kinda bad, this stuff smells good! Hope a good smell is not a bad thing.

I think it depends on the yeast. I have had some that smelled great during fermentation and I've had some that smelled awful. I used a Nottingham yeast that was putting off some banana scents during fermentation once.

Another post said you were brewing a wheat beer. I assume you are using a wheat beer yeast and that is what you will get. If you were brewing a ESB and it tastes and smells like bananas and apricots you probably erred somewhere.
