So, after I get done pouring a beer, I immediately shake and rinse the bottle out with warm/somewhat hot water. I fill bottle half way up and then put 1 drop of dish soap in... then fill up completely. Let it soak couple hours.. then shake and rinse 2 or 3 times. I place them upside down in rack to dry... and when dry put them in box to store in closet.

Come bottling day, I use a bottle rinser filled with starsan.

Is this process ok or am i risking an infection by not using PBW, oxiclean, or? Guess I'm being cheap not wanting to use PBW if I dont need to.

I know dish soap can affect head retention.. but figure I really rinse them out well so prob not a concern.

I think the dish soap is unnecessary, honestly. Just rinse with hot water a few times, make sure all sediment is out, set on the rack and proceed as normal. That's just my $0.02 but I know there are plenty of other people on this forum that simply rinse their bottles. Hope this helps, cheers!

Sounds good. I have one of those on demand water heaters (gas) ... boy does it suck. Have to run water forever before it gets hot.. and not really hot, only 120F or so at its hottest. So, that is why I have been adding a drop of detergent

I never use soaps on any of my liquor, wine, or beer vessels. A tiny amount of soap can leach into and ruin a very expensive or enjoyable beverage. PBW is not that expensive on the glassware cleaning level.
