My 1st recipe is in the fermentor as we speak. I wanted to post it to see if anyone has done anything similar and to let me know how it came out.
I was shooting for an Amber Ale of sorts:
1/2lb. Carapils Barley
6.6lbs of Northwestern Amber Malt
Bittering Hops - 1oz. Cascade / 1oz. Galena
Finishing Hops - 1oz. Cascade
1 pack of Wyeast Activator pitchable Northwest Ale yeast
I pulled a sample just before pitching the yeast to check with the hydrometer I received a reading of 1.045 @ 81 degrees F. Does this sound right? I think I was reading the hydrometer correctly but not 100% sure. Thanks.
