I have been reading that many have problems with this yeast. The Amarillo Pale Ale I just ordered from Midwest will be arriving shortly with this yeast. I am thinking I may pick up some Safale from my local HB store. Is there a problem with putting the Muntons in along with the Safale (in other words using 2 packs of yeast). Or should I just make a usual starter up with the Safale and hang on to the Muntons for a rainy day?

There's no real benefit to using both. Pick one, use it, and save the other for another time.

Ive used the Muntons yeast many times. I just rehydrate it for 10 minutes and pour into wort. Never had any issues with it.

Munton's regular or Gold? The regular is best for kits that add sugar or beers where you want a high final gravity for body. The Gold works well for Pales.

You do not need to make a starter with a dry ale yeast and there's no need to use two packets.

I thought starters were a great way to improve your brewing? Why not use them for dry ale yeast?
