Moving beer during fermentation

Hello everyone!

I'm new to home brewing and just got my first kit this past Christmas. I want to start brewing now but I leave for school in a few days. Would it harm the fermentation process at all if I took it in the car? My plan is to keep it the growler? (still learning terminology) in a container so it won't move around as much. I have a three hour drive that is almost all on the highway so once I get going, I'll be at the same speed the rest of the way.

I could always wait till I get to school to try it out but I have a bit more room here than I will at school.

Wait until you get there. Moving an actively fermenting beer is a recipe for disaster. During fermentation, some of the CO2 stays in suspension. Shake the liquid up by vibrating in a car, and it'll be just like shaking a Coke and it'll go kablooie all over the nice clean clothes you washed over the break. [emoji12]

I wish it were so ..Then I could brew beer on the sail boat ..but beer dosen' like to be sloshed around until packaged..sorry

I think it depends on how active the fermentation is. If its like more than 3-4 days in, I think its fine. I regularly move my beers in and out of a chest freezer, my saisons to opposite corners of my apartment. Hell, when I moved back in July, I lugged 5 primaries and 2 secondaries down a flight of stairs, into a truck bed, and up another flight of stairs. I've never had anything come close to erupting

Is this a 5 gallon batch? If so, moving full, large glass vessels (carboys) is risky (dangerous). A bucket would be better, and comes with a handle. As said before, it can cause unexpected eruptions if moved at the wrong time.
